Dancing for a good cause is like chicken soup for the soul! That’s what everyone who came to party at Pikes discovered last season, as we invited everyone on our guestlists to make a contribution (no matter how small or large) to a variety of feelgood local organisations who work tirelessly to help those in need in Ibiza. Your donations (100% of them) go straight from our clever little tapping machines to the charities themselves – no middle men, definitely no commissions, full transparency – this is partying with a heart. If you want to know more about just how much money we all raised together (Hint! It was well over half a million euros!), who it went to, and how they put your charitable donations to good use, click here for a recap.
So here we are again. All set up, ready to go, and taking your generous contributions each and every night – there’ll be a signpost and a representative on the door each night letting you know who your hard-earned cash is supporting. We request a contribution of 5€ in April and May, then 10€ from June to September. In return (in addition to getting to spend the night at Pikes!), we’ll reward any additional generosity (over 15€) with a lovely little Pikes logo badge you can wear with pride.

What a privilege it is to be able to enjoy all the sights and delights (including our very own Freddies) of Pikes, and the stunning island of Ibiza, knowing that all the while, we’re also helping those who live on the island year-round who are less fortunate. If you’d like to know more, read on – we’ll give you the lowdown on our chosen charities and the good work they do for the community here in Ibiza. Some you may know, others are newcomers, all are the very definition of heroes who don’t wear capes.

ASPANOB – Association of Parents of Children with Cancer of the Balearic Islands
The newest addition to our collective of charities, ASPANOB, came to our attention when we discovered there isn’t actually a children’s cancer ward in any of the hospitals here in Ibiza, the closest being across the sea in Mallorca. This free aid assocation was born to help families get through the toughest experience of their lives, all the while navigating a brand-new island, missing work, or dropping out of school. It helps find accommodation for families who’ve had to relocate, pays for taxis and provides all-important psychological support, music therapy, home education services and much more. Not only that – they also jump over to Ibiza when needed to support those famiy members left behind, whether that’s siblings who are left to stay with grandparents or family friends while their parents are in Mallorca for the treatment duration. ASPANOB have been providing this much-needed service since 1987 and are recognised by the Spanish government, proving just how powerful their contributions are to those in need.
APFEM – Asociación Pitiusa Pro Salud Mental
Asociación Pitiusa Pro Salud Mental – or APFEM for short – is the big-hearted local organisation that works tirelessly to help improve the quality of life for people with a diagnosis of mental health or developmental disorders – and in addition, they also support their families in Ibiza too, something that can often be overlooked. Here in Ibiza, their main objective is to help those with disabilities integrate into society, facilitate their autonomy and raise awareness in both public and private services – APFEM, we salute you!
AFAEF – Asociación de Familiares de Enfermos de Alzheimer d’Eivissa y Formentera
Alzheimer’s Disease is a heartbreaking medical diagnosis on many levels, due to the ways it affects not just the person living with the disease, but their loved ones too and here in Ibiza and also in Formentera, AFAEF (Asociación de Familiares de Enfermos de Alzheimer d’Eivissa y Formentera) is a non-profit organisation that strives to help improve the living situations of patients, families and caregivers alike who are living with or affected by Alzheimer’s. With a respite unit and headquarters designed to provide multi-care services including therapy, psychology, home care, physical support and much, much more, AFAEF is a humbling and honorable cause we’re so proud to be of service to.
AEMIF – Asociación de Esclerosis Múltiple de Ibiza y Formentera
Asociación de Esclerosis Múltiple de Ibiza y Formentera (or AEMIF if you prefer less of a tongue-twister) is a day centre and non-profit association that cares for people on the islands with physical disabilities caused by acquired brain damage, spinal cord injury and/or neurodegenerative diseases such as Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s, Sclerosis. Lateral Amyotrophic or Huntington’s Chorea, among others. The team is run by dedicated and passionate professionals and also includes members affected by neurogenerative diseases themselves, a guiding example of practicing what they preach from a humanistic perspective, with workshops, group activities, individual therapies and sessions and so much more. A round of applause please, for AEMIF!
Expertly run by Alba Pau, a long-term friend of the Pikes family, Fundación Conciencia Ibiza is a non-profit foundation that provides help for children who suffer abuse, exploitation, assault, rape or sexual abuse. Working alongside families, social workers, lawyers, psychologists, mediators, public administration officials and other non-profit organisations, the team are dedicated to improving the child protection system, promoting coaching for parents, support for families whose children are in detention centres and providing support to those in velnerable situations. Incredibly noble yet humble, we are so pleased to be able to assist financially.
IFCC – Ibiza and Formentera Against Cancer Association
This non-governmental, non-profit organisation is dedicated to the fight against cancer in the Pitiusas, and ensures that each and every contribution made to the cause stays in the islands of Ibiza and Formentera, in order to reach those in need in the local areas. IFCC – which is an association made up entirely of volunteers – creates prevention and early detection programmes to support cancer patients and their families throughout all stages of the illness, providing services such as financial assistance, psyhcological support, transport, orthopaedic equipment and more, completely free of charge. Raise your glasses please, when you have a drink in your hand after donating, and cheers to these local heroes.
Care4Cats
In addition to the six selected local charities who we’ll be accepting donations for on the door, we’ve also partnered with our long-time friends from Care4Cats to raise money via our reception, any time of the day or night), all in the name of keeping the island’s feline population safe and healthy. Care4Cats are the absolute feline champs on this island, working hard with TNR (trap, neuter, return) programmes to ensure that the wild colonies are never overpopulated, and also aiding in rescuing abandoned cats and kittens all over Ibiza, as well as assisting with sock and injured kitties in the wild. Absolute saints, if you ask us!
And please, when you arrive to our guestlist gate… dig deep! In addition to the lovely warm-hearted, feelgood vibes you’ll get from donating, we’re also pledging to give anyone who contributes more than 10€ to our causes a Pikes badge to pin on and wear proudly. Let’s see if we can raise even more money this year – we’ve got absolute faith in you.
